This poem is about my early childhood life
I grew up in Portland
where we lived in the hood
didn't have a car
so we took the bus when we could

guy in the house
hit me when he was high
I did anything
just to get by

I was only five
trying to survive
wondering what is next
for me in this life

well fast forward a bit
I'm over here wanting to quit
always being moved

house to house
different rules
switching schools
left and right

trash bag in hand
didn't have much planned

in life
you have to fight to survive
try and thrive
because this is only
a short amount of time
