When Spring arrives they make themselves known.
The Woodpecker has
now appeared,
as springtime
fills the air.

The Woodpecker drills
away at wood;
Going “Rat-a-tat-tat” declaring,
“This is my neighborhood”!

More Woodpeckers are
starting to appear,
as mating season approaches,
they become pairs.

You’ll see their little babies,
hatching deep within their nests.
Hungry babies chirp,
to feed them the very best.

Now that their babies, have
all grown and flown;
They're off to a
new life of their very own.

The Woodpecker will
appear again once more;
When I hear that “Rat–a–tat-tat”,
rapping on my back door.
