Sam was a fisherman but he ignored the signs.


Sam’s favourite fishing hole was where the Barramundis grew up to a metre in length. Dotted around the river bank were warning signs advising that crocodiles live and breed in those waters.
Sam, being born around those parts thought he was too wiley to ever be caught unawares by a crocodile.
“Those warnings are just for the tourists.” He’d scoff.
One day he was standing having a smoke while up to his knees in the river. As he threw in his line he hummed a tune and smiled before he said, ‘what a wonderful life,’ Those were his last words.
