Rain on the horizon,
cold on the bones.
Emotions swirling,
twisting around my mind
like a warped vine
strangling all thought.

Accountability is lost in a sea
of irresponsibility.
Rain pelting the landscape,
cold skirting the hardening ground,
creeping over skin, darkness grows.

Appeasement brings affliction,
hardens the heart.
Cold twines all limbs
in a coil of despair.
Face to face with Poe.

It grows from the feet to the shins to the knees.
It is numb.
