I paid you a visit today
Couldn't you hear me knocking at your window today?
I know since I've been gone, you seem to have lost your way.
I want you to know, it's okay to find love once more.
Live again, release the pain that's deep within your core.

I'm sorry that I left you. I didn't want to go.
My last thought was about you, and how I loved you so.
Love we thought would last forever, will not come to be,
Someone else is out there waiting, so set your heart free.

Next time I come a-calling, I want to see you smile,
Perhaps I'll sit at your window, just a little while,
If you see a red cardinal, looking ever so still,
Or pecking at your window, with it's tiny black bill,

it's just me knocking at your window to say hello.
Until l know you're not alone, I can never go,
When that time comes, and you are in love with someone new,
then I'll leave you to his care as I finally pass through.
