written after the first "I love you" in a long ago, relationship
Silk on velvet,
heart on heart,
soul on soul.

Universal motion
ceases
for the utterance
of three words.

Only now,
this second,
matters.

You are mine
for this instant.
The sacred happened
and what was once
two hearts,
becomes one.

That moment will
repeat in your eyes
for days to come.

If we should end
I will remember.
For how could I forget
the reason my heart
beats in unison with yours?

I love you.
