Expecting too much, and wanting to believe in love.
I guess I wanted to believe that
you could love a girl like me.
That all my bad dreams and weak
cover ups would go unnoticed with you.

I guess I wanted to see my truth
reflected in your eyes. My pain,
soothed by your belief in Heaven.
My soiled hands, cleansed by yours.

I guess I wanted your love to carry
me through all the faces that were
mocking me. Through all the hurt that
was stopping me from being whole.

I guess I wanted to be on a pedestal
with you, where no one else could be.
And be envied the perfection we had
found, and kept for our selves.

I guess I wanted to be the one that
lived the fairytale,And renewed poets
faith in "forever" Love. And kept romantics
searching for their soulmates.

I guess I wanted to believe in something...
and you were as close to perfect, as I was
ever going to get.
