Pieces of the past found one day -

I found pieces of the past one day,
Tissue-wrapped and ribbon-tied, they lay;
Memories came flooding back to me,
Knowing that I could never be free

From the memories of you -

For a moment I could see your face,
Feel again your warm embrace -
Wedding bells, chantilly lace
I can never hope to replace

The memories of you -

The memories of you remain
Here within my heart, the pain -
All the love we shared that day
Was lost somewhere along the way.

I'm left with memories of you -

The once upon a time will stay
Laid in tissue, packed away -
Someday I will look, as before,
At the memories, wanting more

Than the memories of you.
