For those who choose to die by their own hand -

Where was I in July?
Must have been excaping pain
By going out and smiling
At the world - once again..

Where was I in August
And in September's early rain?
I wasn't there to answer
Your call for help - Insane -

That I should feel responsible
For I could never know
That a call or a simple hug
Might have changed things so..

Where was I in November?
Much too busy with my life?
I didn't see the heartache
And I ignored the strife -

Yesterday at lunch I learned
That another one was gone -
Another gunshot, another death
It just goes on - and on -

Another one chose to die
By their own hand and so,
We are left to deal with it -
How? I just don't know.

It doesn't seem that life
Should be snuffed out like this!
So many things to live for -
So much of life to miss!

I will never have the answer
To the questions that come -
I can only try to understand
Why - another one???
