Experential Poetry
I have to build a new house
Life’s wind blew the former like a blouse.
I have to purchase new furniture,
No more work than this year’s torture.

From odds and ends made of scrape
I will sew and stitch new drapes.
No need for a ‘talkie’ or a ‘tellie’.
A full belly is better than Sally or Jerry.

A solid wooden floor is as good a ground.
Exotic rich carpet was my curse to drown.
Outside, I will plant red and blue flowers.
They are more real than tall city towers.

I have to build a new house.
Life’s wind blew the former like a blouse.

I will build on a hill,
Well above my past ills.
I will build in a remote region,
Away from misplaced reason.

I will build my house out of brick,
To withstand heritage and trick.

Despite hunger, thirst, and hurt,
I have to start anew.
Who knew life’s wind would ruin
The former like dirt on white skirt.
