Just my bio - for the various publications I write for on site and the curious :)

I am a mother of four and published writer ("My published writing credits...) of many articles, stories and poems. I am in the process of sending out my kid lit. for print publication as picture books, and chapter books. *Wish me luck!*

Besides hanging out here, I started a new embroidery business with my mother and sister; am in the process of earning my degree in education; and am on staff at my college's literary magazine.

***UPDATE: I was an editor and then executive editor (the next year) of that literary magazine. I graduated with my AA (with a 4.0 avg.) in December of '07, and was asked to be the student speaker at graduation. I was one of only three to graduate with high honors. I was chosen to be on the All-Academic Team for my school and then went on to be selected for Florida's All-Academic Team, as well.

I was born an Air Force brat, and became a military spouse (Army). I've lived in many wonderful states and countries: MA, MI, FL, CO, TX, and Germany - and I've had the privilege of visiting many more. I am a former Girl Scout (Brownie) and Cub scout leader, and even before I was a mom, I was a volunteer art teacher for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Tarpon Springs Florida.

I have always enjoyed creative writing and wrote my first poem when I was 6 or 7. It was a Haiku consisting of only bird names--well, at least I was writing! *Laugh*

I am a former "For Authors" editor, "Short Stories" editor, "Romance/Love" Writing.com editor. I am a current Poetry newsletter editor. I am also the editor-in-Chief of (and periodic writer for) both the Writers Circle newsletter and the Children's Writer Group newsletter.

UPDATE:

My parents retired and the embroidery business, while not dead, is floundering in the abysmal economy. Since losing my husband to a massive heart attack last year, I've just tried to keep the family afloat and moving forward. The only writing I've done is with the WDC Poetry newsletter. Hopefully, that will change soon.

I'm still working toward a teaching degree, but I may go into academic advising instead of teaching once I get my degree. I want to pursue my writing, and let's face it, teachers work very hard for little pay. I need some spare time to write, and teachers get precious little of it.
