Well-meaning, but still -

WHISPERS

The family gathered round
My bedside one late night,
They began to whisper
Wondering if I'd be all right.

I know that they were worried;
From there faces I could see
That whatever they whispered
Was sure concerning me.

Now I look back and smile
At what they might have said;
You see, I may be tired,
But for Pete's sake, I'm not dead!

Whispers all around me,
People wonder if I'm okay
Because I act a little odd
At least that's what they say!

They just don't understand
That although I've gotten old
I still have my get up and go,
And if I may be so bold -

I'd tell them not to wonder
Or fret about me anymore;
I'm having fun just living
And will not ask for more!
