The Journey


The basket stopped but a minute,
Eagerly we boarded,
then glided above the others,
sailing high on magic.

Only the two of us
were held within its confine.
Never more than the two of us
were needed within its frame,

for we were locked within
to begin true love's fusion.
We were there to voyage
beyond our single hearts.

Our laughter was enchanted.
The words we spoke were charmed.
Breathlessly, entwined in kisses,
we soared above the world.

Our hearts began to beat
with the rhythm of our sharing.
The fingers of our hands
melded with all the warmth.

Within that tiny cage
among the brightest stars,
we rode a fairy's ferris wheel
and journeyed the seas of love.
