I've done love wrong, so why would it want to do me a right?
For as many times as I've joined in smoky, bitter choruses of the countless blues songs sung by those scorned and dumped and cheated on I have to admit, if I'm brutally honest, that love hasn't hurt me all that much. If anything, I've done love some wrong....
I'm a passionate woman and you would think that would bode well for keeping on love's good side. It probably does help when love is looking for sparks to start a fire, but when love ain't askin you for a light, it doesn't appreciate you constantly taking a match to friendships that aren't meant for heat. When love is looking for someone to wrap itself around in a tender embrace, if it isn't you that it is reaching for, a clutching needy hug is NOT appreciated. Even if you might have been a candidate on love's list of the worthy, a vice-like headlock will tend to suffocate even the most powerful of emotions.
Love is elusive for a reason. It's mission (as many of us have heard countless times before) is to find you when you are ready and often when you least expect it. Attempting an ambush, hunting it down like a dog corners a fox so its pelt can be wrapped around you on your cold lonely nights, isn't how you get to score the real thing. A luscious fur may feel luxurious, but it is still a dead animal.
I've been that pyromaniac, I've been that overzealous wrestler, I've been that bounty hunter. I'm good at trying to club love on the head enough to make it pass out on my lap. I've done love wrong. If I'd been stalked, harassed, shaken, kidnapped, and all manner of other abuses I would certainly not sashay up to that very love obsessed lunatic and ask them to dance. Thus, I'm feeling somewhat bewildered at the possibility that love may be giving me a chance to do it right. As cliche as this might sound, it really seems to good to be true.

                    to be continued....
