The shoes keep getting a child in trouble with the messes they leave.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Shoe Bop
There are eight pairs of shoes in my room
Which I’m scared may bring me to doom.
For whenever I sleep, I hear them arise,
Dancing circles as they rumba clockwise.
The floor of my room has carpet, you see,
So their tapping is quiet, but not the emcee;
It's he who pounds out the time for the rest.
I haven’t a clue which action is best.
I suppose I should call up the zoo?
For surely they’d take all these dancing shoes,
Yet I haven’t the heart to desert them.
A phobia, it’s true; I can’t overcome,
But I need them to wear in the day.
Please tell me the way to make them all stay
In the closet where they’re supposed to remain.
For Mommy has said they can’t have their recess
Since their play leaves my room all a mess.
