This is my poem about fire. It was my entry for the elements contest. please R&R.
FIRE IS A PARADOX
Fire is a Paradox
Fire is a paradox,
The deadly tongues of the fire,
Leap through the air,
Licking anything it touches before engulfing it in flame,
The fire can mean peace,
Or war.
Love,
Or hate.
Fear,
Or pride.
It can be used to protect the things we love,
Or it can destroy it in a heartbeat.
Sending great plumes of smoke,
As the only reminder.
It can be our dearest friend,
Keeping us warm,
But it can betray us when secrecy is needed.
Fire both can and can't be trusted,
Must, and mustn't.
Need, and needn't.
Fire is a paradox
