a snowy dialogue
SOUP

Where are you? he asked.
I'm in the midst of my morning
In the dark
With my cuppa jo.

Where are you? she asked.
I'm at home
Surrounded by evening
Thinking about soup.

Where were you this afternoon? they both asked.
Waiting for the stars to come
I'll gather them for you
And deliver them on wild wind currents.

The stars were shy last night, she said
It wouldn't stop snowing.
It couldn't stop snowing, he said
There was too much to hold.

Another night, she said.
Another season, he said.

Can you give me one word? she asked.
Natural, he said.
Irresistible, she said.
Thrilling, they said.

Do you feel the magic of this time and place
Shimmering all around us? she asked.
Yes. It's inside me, he said
I ate it in my soup.
