A love poem about an interacial relationship.
Apollo speaks of Oshun

I looked over at her and I couldn't believe how beautiful she was.
In her sleep, she had this strange angelic beauty,
Different from the beauty I'd always seen her in.
Now I looked at her almost like a small child,
Someone I wanted to protect, to love, to make safe.

I played with her braided hair.
I'd seen her play with her hair all the time,
I wanted to touch it,
To feel what she felt when she touched it.
The hard melted ends felt strange to me,
And I couldn't stop touching them.

This woke her,
I hoped we could pretend to fight and then make up with a kiss.
Her beauty was new to me, different.
Different than anything I'd ever encountered,
Perhaps that's why I was so attracted to her,
But I know now that it's more than just her beauty that intrigues me.
She is warm and sensitive.
She expresses the kind of kindness that I can't understand, but that I respect.
She is fearless, I like that.
She fears nothing, but she is no fool rushing into danger,
She's so intelligent, sometimes I'm in awe,
And I hope that she'll pass this down to our children.
