Thoughts on the paths and drives of our lives (hey that rhymes)
If I were to die today, would anyone mourn?
Would their lives
standstill-
for a single minute moment
to revel in their loss?
Do they realize what we lose each day,
have lost before,
and can lose tomorrow?
Do they know what we have,
what we want,
what we need,
and what we do not?

If I were to die today, would anyone notice?
Would the world
standstill-
for a single minute moment
to revel in its loss?
Would it stop,
or continue
         running
                   hurrying
                             starting
                                       finishing
and beginning again?
Can we stop, or even slow
to see what we have left
behind,
or to see where we are going?

If I were to die today, would it have an effect?
would the weave of fate driving us
standstill-
for a single minute moment
to ponder on the ending thread?
Is life only a track we travel,
a path laid out,
destined to glory or defeat.
Or are we guided by our actions?
Blown across the planet by the winds of choice and happenstance.
In the end,
Am I to be a puppet?
Or may I be a man?
