Shakespearean sonnet in which I acknowledge more than a decade of development in 14 lines.
The tiny baby widens blurry eyes
to focus on the pillars of support.
The language of familiar coos and cries
evolves into a chattering report.
The sandbox and the swing come into play
as doors are opened, characters revealed.
The sparks of knowledge serve to light the way
on quests for hidden treasures still concealed.
In turrets, under tents, and over books,
the curious adventurer thirsts on,
exploring many fields and different looks,
as winds of change reflect a decade gone.
Although the teens will bring a whole new start,
still, anyone can be a child at heart.
