God knows our faults and what's in our hearts
Could I have stood before the masses,
Extolling Your goodness, mercy and love?
Above the din the crowd created,
Could I have shouted out Your praises?

In Your blood stained footsteps could I follow,
Glorifying my God Incarnate.

Or would my fear and trepidation,
Have caused me also to flee from Thee.
From the distance I heard the jeering,
As they nailed You to the Cross.

In the darkness of that hour
When Your suffering ceased to be,
I knew I'd lost a friend and loved one;
Afraid in death to acknowledge Thee.
