This is a short story about two kids taking a little road trip.

I would like to thank everyone that reads this story. Please give me a review this will help me to become a better writer.

One day a friend and I were planning a trip out of state. We planned for everything you could think of. Jamie was driving so I could get some rest. I was supposed to drive at night because he could not see well. It was a very hot day and the sun was very intense. Jamie had been driving for a few hours and was getting tired. Jamie woke me up about five a clock. I had no idea where we were. I took over driving at this point and drove for about an hour before I told Jamie we should start heading back. We pulled over at a gas station to get something to eat because we had been driving for hours by now.

I started heading back to Jacksonville. I had been driving for about two hours and I was getting a little tired. I asked Jamie if he wanted to drive, then all of the sudden this truck had appeared in front of us. I had no time to react before the truck would hit us head on at a high rate of speed. I placed the vehicle I was driving a little on the right side of the truck, so I would take more of the impact on my side. Jamie was not wearing a seat belt. He was in the back seat still trying to wake up. When everything was done, Jamie had a very bad cut on his head. I had a broken collarbone and a knot on my forehead. I held Jamie in my arms, with one hand over the cut. I kept telling him that everything was going to be all right. Trying not to let him know that he was bleeding.

When the paramedics arrived on the scene, they started to work on Jamie. I just sat there watching, and then everything went black. Yes, I passed out. The knot on my head was much worst than we thought. When I arrived at the hospital, they started running all types of tests. When I finally came around all I could see was my father looking at me crying. He told me that I was in a car wreck with a drunk driver. The first thing I asked, how is Jamie? Dad told me he would be all right, but on the other hand I would have to spend a couple of days in the hospital. I also asked about the other driver.

Later the police called my dad, to inform him that they found the driver of the truck. They found him watching a high school football game down the road. They could not charge the driver of the truck with driving under the influence. They could only get him for leaving the scene.
