Revelations at One End of my Leash
I am lucky.

While others spend their workdays
In the hearts of stinking smog desensitized cities
I walk dogs.

Not a lucrative living in the cents
Of dollars,
But rich in the incalculable wealth
Of experience.

Today, a Sheltie and I
Walked the cliffs of the roaring shore
To spy...

A lone swan
Afloat on the bay
A sad reminder
Of romance lost..

Seals perched on rocks
soaking the small solace
Of the winter sun
into their skins.

Snow reluctantly melted
into the bare brambles
of the forlorn roadside.

I fled
to the warm mouth
of an all forgiving St...
Bernard, that is.

I cherished
the sneaking kisses
of his new brother...
A Spinone mix
who had mutely suffered
nameless abuse
That left him leery
of affection
and cookies
in the hands
of those who meant him no harm.
