The poet yearns for her beloved's love
I pine

I know
there is pain in it and sorrow, but
there also is perennial love.
Our bond, my dearest, I believe,
is a gift from the One above.

I know
the path ahead is not all rosy,
but no relationship is ever perfect.
Living holds no meaning, if
only flaws and blemishes, we detect.

I know
a lifetime together means
countless sacrifices and pardons.
But tell me, sweetheart, do we ever find
thornless shrubs of roses, in the gardens?

I know
I derive infinite happiness from your love
just as you do from mine.
And it is only for you, my love, and
our lasting togetherness, that I pine.
