Thoughts go through a young girl's mind, when she is alone. Flashbacks frighten her.
Alone Again

Suddenly, I wish I could hear
another's voice instead of
the emptiness of this
dark room.

I can hear the steadiness
of my breathing, and
nothing more,
in this dark
abyss.

Strange,how noises you
regularly hear
throughout the day,
seem to disappear.

Your mind flashes pictures
of the past and
suddenly you are drawn
into a whirlwind,
spinning
'round and 'round,
never stopping.

You pass by so much,
you look closely,
but catch only glimpses
of pictures--
mostly sad.

Then, you find you are
lost inside yourself,
not knowing when
the confusion
will end.

As quickly as it
began,
the confusion,
suddenly clears.

You find yourself,
sitting in the
darkness,
wondering where you've
been, why you were there.

The breathing continues;
The noises return.
And you go on
as before.
Until you are...
Alone again.
