This was written in remembrance of Chief Mosholatubbee, my 5th great Grandfather!
Born American-Indian Choctaw,
a Chief was my 5th great grandpa.

Mo-sho-la-tub-bee was his warrior name,
speeches in Washington earned him fame.

He led his tribe through the Trail of Tears,
many were lost increasing his fears.

A long journey ahead of promised wealth,
many arrived, some died of ill-health.

Mississippi Choctaws; they were called,
many sold into slavery somewhat appalled.

Homes built upon the soil of the new land,
everyone working; hand-in-hand.

Schools were built for the children to learn,
but for the old home-land many did yearn.

Through eight generations this story's been told,
sorrowful tales passed down from the old.

Though many have died our heritage reigns,
Indian blood runs through my veins.
