The dark and trying times of adolescence.

Child Be Gone

In blighted laughter
adolescence play
as chill winter's song
on warm summer's day.

Melody frozen
before it begin;
a futile effort
enveloped within.

The child be gone
in blink-of-the-eye
as glimmer of life
when pneuma will die.

For toys in a flood
is youth in this life
carried by currents
impelled by strife,

that rise in a storm
and take unawares
oblivious child
in all of his cares.

Possessions; priceless,
he only may care
most simple items
so cherished he fair!

Beyond all wonder
and amazement he,
yet becomes the man
his character be.
