perspectives and balances
thanks to katwoman45 for a great title :)

I wander an emotional wasteland,
my mind fooled by mirages
of greener times.
Dust storm arguments
assault
a parched heart
that thirsts for answers.

Once
strong mountains stood fast:
a vast fortress repelling any foe.
Once
tall hemlocks shaded the unreasonable.
Once
quiet streams watered:cool and quenching.
Once
clear breezes cleaned and renewed.

Now
endless nothing
stretches to far horizons.
Now
burning skies
bequeath unyielding fire.
Now
sand mountains
shift before the unrelenting winds.

Yet
there is always an oasis
in the desert,
somewhere.
I must find it so that I
may replant
this seed of hope
clenched
in the palm of my mind.
