Canada's short experience
After watching a Canadian show on television for Remembrance Day without my hat on. Why wasn't I wearing my hat? Probably because I am a girl and was not wearing a hat at the time. Either that or I am not wearing a hat now. Anyway I might have taken it off for my neighbours. I saw. How come I don't feel particularly safe in Japan. How come I cannot sing Flanders Fields for Japan? Because I'm not buried in Japan am I. Maybe we need another poem for Japan or something. Maybe for us Japan was not in the second world war. Maybe it was a war just with Japan. Maybe someone else saved us from Japan. Maybe some of our boys went to Japan without listening to their elders advise them. I wonder whose those were. Anyway, when they went there, whereever they went, I mean, they got lost there. We were waiting for them and waiting for them and waiting for them. Then some of them were heros. Because very bad things happened to them. Very Very bad things happened to them there. Then they came home. Did I take my hat off? I think I did for just a minute. America cradled my flag. Britain still had her hat on. America enfolded my flag with her wings until God blew her off with just his breath. The eagle never missed a beat though. The ocean is still rough. The waves of the ocean never came over our ships. Our ships go through iceburgs. Our ships are strong. We have much land. All women are beautiful here. We serve many people from many lands here. Many many men come here and we serve them coffee. We will probably serve them coffee for the rest of our days and many of us are poor and single and downhearted and would probably like to marry the ones that we serve because there is no union for servants. Servants of Japan or servants of tourists it just doesn't matter anymore. We have much much land and many many women that need protecting. There are so many women here. God protects the land and God protects the service. He has always done this for which we are all very grateful.
