Written for round 1 of SugarCubes Mini Slam Finals
I have always been afraid of
Losing the place I call my home,
Finding myself out on the streets
With no shelter to call my own.

I have always been afraid of
Being trapped where I couldn’t get out,
Claustrophobia closing in
On me, trapping me like a shroud.

I have always been afraid of
Not giving enough of myself,
Not sharing my time and my talents,
Not leaving the world part of my wealth.

Little fears niggling
at the back of my mind
Have so little meaning
in an eternity of time.
