Memory to last a lifetime
First Kiss

It was a cool summer night like tonight
with a bright full moon filling the sky with light
and bathing everything below in silver.
It was late.
We walked up the narrow cement pathway
to the front steps of the little house on Olive Ave.
No lights shone from the windows ~
my roommates and our landlady were sleeping.
It was time to say goodnight.
And then
he put his hands on my shoulders
and his face came close to mine.
My heart pounded loudly in my ears.
Would this be the night?
Oh, I hoped so ~

And suddenly his lips were warm on mine
and overhead
the big white moon smiled.

I am growing old
and he is gone
but tonight
the same moon hangs in the sky
and I remember . . . . .
