There are some who say that the world has always existed, just not as it is today. Long ago, past reckoning by any meaningful measure of time, the world was dark and shapeless. There was magic then, powerful currents of energy which ebbed and flowed with a mind of its own. The lands and seas, barren of life, were formed by the modulations of magic as it dragged existence with it. Eventually beings passed through the shroud beyond the edge of the world. They were capable of wielding the wild magic and brought it under control. The land stayed as it was, and the waters remained where they fell. Thus began the world. From there a story was born.
