After a few long-range motorcycle trips in the late 1970s, a trip of eminent proportions began to take shape. In 1981, after years of hiking, camping, and climbing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, I and two of my friends realized a long-standing dream by having the adventure of driving to Alaska from our home in Rhode Island. Over the years, I have made eighteen trips back to Alaska. I have fished for salmon on the Kenai Peninsula, panned gold from isolated back-country creeks, and seen the Northern Lights dance across the frozen winter sky. My short stories are based on my experiences.
