Summary of this Book...
Lucy Jarrett returns home to a town in NY state in the Finger Lakes area from Japan where she left her lover Yoshi. She is without a job at the moment, and her future is unknown. Moreover, she has unresolved issues, mostly guilt feelings, regarding her father's death and the way she dumped her first love, Keegan Fall before she left town. Keegan now has a studio and showplace where he exhibits his art of creating glass objects and stained glass. There's also the problem with the run-down family home where her mother resides.

While Lucy and Keegan work on their unfinished business from years ago, Lucy uncovers a mystery of a dead relative named Rose and finds some hidden papers among her fathers effects that clears many things for her and her family. What she does with this information defines the rest of the story.

A lot of undercurrent flows inside this novel's plot, through which family secrets come out into the open. Its characters are complex, its themes multi-layered, and its settings poetically described. In addition, the use of weather to show the states of mind is craftily executed.

This type of Book is good for...
serious reading as this is literary fiction about family dynamics, relationships, and the psychological issues that bond people together or alienate them from each other.
I especially liked...
the writer's use of the language and the inward journeys she made her characters take.
The author of this Book...
Kim Edwards is a graduate of Colgate University and the University of Iowa. She has won several awards and honors. Her books are: The Secrets of a Fire King, The Memory Keeper's Daughter, The Lake of Dreams
I recommend this Book because...
The use of language and the story weaving is excellent. Having read all of Edwards' published work, I know this writer won't disappoint any serious reader. *Smile*
