A young British peer, Colin Clark, is fascinated with movies in the 1950's. His family knows Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, and he uses the connection to get a job on the movie that ultimately becomes "The Prince and the Showgirl," starring Olivier (who also directed it) and Marilyn Monroe.

While working on the film, young Colin becomes a much needed friend to Marilyn, who is going through a hard time in her marriage to Arthur Miller.

The film is based on a true story.

is good. Michelle Williams is unforgetable as Monroe. The movie's pacing was a little bit slow, but it features stellar performances by Judy Dench, Kenneth Brannagh as Olivier, Julia Ormand as Vivien Leigh, Michael Kitchen (from Foyles War) and Jim Carter (Carson from Downton Abbey) in smaller roles.

I wasn't wild about Eddie Redmayne who played Colin, and he is the lead character.

I wanted to watch it, but I can't recommend this movie, unless you are really interested in Marilyn Monroe and knowing about her troubles. Some of them - make that a lot of them - were self inflicted.
