Summary of this Book...
The indomitable detective Nero Wolfe ventures from the safe haven of his home to visit a flower show at a fair when his car breaks down on the side of the road. His sidekick Archie climbs a fence and finds himself in the middle of a pasture containing a notoriously devilish bull named Ceasar. When someone turns up dead at the fair grounds and then Ceasar is killed as well, Nero Wolfe and Archie find themselves investigating a mystery away from the comforts of home and Nero Wolfe's personal chef.

One of the earlier books in the Nero Wolfe series, the characters are raw and personable with a gritty edge that is missing in later titles.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who loves a good who-done-it detective novel without gore, bad words, or sex.
I especially liked...
the development of the character of Archie and seeing Nero Wolfe away from his office and brownstone in NYC. Putting them in a different setting allows for more development of their characters as they face unknown situations and stress.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read every single Nero Wolfe book available.
The author of this Book...
Rex Stout, weaves an intricate tale of mystery and who-done-it while creating engaging and personable characters full of quirks.
I recommend this Book because...
It is a well written and long lived series with strong characters, great mystery plots that keep the reader guessing all the way through, and has become a classic in the world of literature.
Further Comments...
If you have never read anything by Rex Stout, give the Nero Wolfe books a try. They are written as if Archie is keeping a journal of events that occur and keep the reader well engaged.
