Summary of this Book...
The Lola Quartet is comprised of four musically gifted teenagers - Jack, Daniel, Sasha and Gavin who form a jazz band whilst still in High School in order to gain extra credits.

On the night of their last performance after graduation, Gavin's girlfriend disappears without explanation. Shortly afterwards the Quartet go their separate ways.

Years later, Gavin's sister encounters a child who looks uncannily like herself and her brother and takes her picture. Having just lost his girlfriend and his job in New York, Gavin becomes obsessed with finding out the story behind the little girl in the photograph which ultimately takes him back to his hometown and his old friends - but times have changed. Not all of them are as friendly as he once believed and slowly the story of the last ten years unravels before him - and not everything will end well.
This type of Book is good for...
People who like contemporary fiction and stories about people with lots of characters involved.
I especially liked...
I loved the authors writing style which is very engaging and has you hooked straight away. I found that this was a real "page turner" as the story flits between the present and various times in the past and from the outlook of the different characters in turn (although written in third person) which means that as you read, you are piecing the story together and want to know what happens next!
I didn't like...
If I had to point out anything negative I would say that some of the conversations between the characters seemed a LITTLE unrealistic, a bit pretentious maybe. This didn't stop me from enjoying the book, but in some instances, it did jump out at me.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Listen to some Jazz music.
This Book made me feel...
As though I was in the story and as if I knew the characters.
The author of this Book...
Has written several other novels. I bought and read "Station Eleven" earlier this year and really liked it and I saw this one in a charity shop when looking for holiday books and remembered the name so I snapped it up!
I recommend this Book because...
The story is really gripping and the plot twists and turns and keeps you guessing at what happened and what is going to happen next. The characters are really interesting to read about.
