Summary of this Book...
ER Doctor, Toby Harper, works the night shift at Springer Hospital when a man comes in confused and critical. Before she can complete her workup, he disappears without a trace. When she comes across a second patient with the same symptoms that she realizes she has come across an infection that could prove to be an epidemic.
I especially liked...
This is one of Tess Gerritsen's earlier books and it shows. It was a good read and progressed with interesting plot twists. The story kept me engaged and I would go back for more of the earlier books since I enjoy her writing style.
I didn't like...
I didn't think the characters were developed strongly enough. The protagonist seemed a little wishy-washy although considering the circumstances it can be overlooked. I wanted her to be either weaker or much stronger but got a middle-ground instead. I didn't think the motives for the protagonists were strong enough or did I know enough about their true characters for them to make the leap from diligent research doctors gone wrong to murderers. It seemed too much of a leap. Lastly, it had far too much medical procedural descriptions. She aced the information, but I didn't need all of it and not sure it added to the value of the entire story.
The n/a of this Book...
I enjoy all of Tess Gerritsen's books, even these that she wrote earlier in her career. They might not be as up-to-par with her more recent novels but, to me, this shows the growth she has achieved with each novel she has written.
