This is the second book in the Cab Bolton series. It packs a lot of mystery and intrigue into this story about politicians.A hurricane is on the way to this Florida town. Diane Fairmont is running for governor but 10 years ago was witness to a horrific murder during a fundraiser. She is now the target of threats and Cab Bolton is hired to investigate.

I enjoy the thriller, suspenseful writing of Brian Freeman. I can rely on this author to deliver a well put together story with 'whole' characters.

I am finding myself comparing the protagonists of this author's two detective series and finding I don't really feel Cab Bolton is as real as Jonathan Stride. Well, as real as any fictional character might be. He doesn't have the amount of depth as Stride.

There are many characters in Brian Freeman books but what I love about it, is how he makes each one a whole person. There isn't any 'throw-away' characters in any of his books and although there many be many, they are all fully formed and believable to the point of truly liking or even disliking them the way you might in life.

I can depend on Brian Freeman to give me a well written book. I might not always have the same degree of 'liking' each one but I think that is only the natural process.
