Summary of this Book...
This is a coming of age story of a young boy, child prodigy and grandson of a 'piano man'. Young Jonah grows in his musical ability while making true longtime friends and having to face some dangerous situations that change the course of his, his family, and friends lives forever.
This type of Book is good for...
This is a story that weaves it's way around some very interesting concepts while keeping true to the suspense, horror, fantasy genres. Koontz is so apt in threading together portions of information that come together so perfectly in the end that it leaves you with a beautiful needlepoint picture. It may seem to be only colorful strands along the way but they are truly well thought out and planned pieces that come together to make the whole.
I especially liked...
This story delivers such a strong message of how life can be lived if we approach it for those we love and the love of what we do, instead of for money or popularity. It's written in such a way that it is still a fiction story but with so much depth of reality there is no way but to be pulled into the lives of these characters
This Book made me feel...
This story takes the reader to every place they might want to go. Dean Koontz is such the storyteller the reader will fit into every setting, recognize every character, and feel every emotion, side-look, and attitude as it's revealed. Koontz style is so natural, there is no where to go but along with him on the journey of the story he tells.
The author of this Book...
Dean Koontz is brilliant. His books I've read recently seemed to have the theme of a writer that was no longer interested in writing for money or fame. He would be perfectly happy writing for the enjoyment and ability to do so without the infringements of making anyone except himself happy.
This book is a wonderful product of a writer letting himself write without the notion of having to produce anything other than a brilliant book.
Further Comments...
This book by Dean Koontz isn't his typical horror, suspense-filled thriller. He weaves such an interesting tale of this young man and the dark and light, hate and love, right and wrong of life that anyone can easily relate to. It is so elevated and well written, you will close the book when finished with a sense of awe.
