Summary of this DVD...
This movie was one I was highly anticipating so when it came out on DVD I was super excited to see it. With that said this kind of follows the book but diverges slightly with not having as many details. I'll get into the nitty gritty of what I thought since there were some good points, but also other areas where it dragged more.
This type of DVD is good for...
For someone who loves to "science" their way out of anything.
I especially liked...
This glance into the surviving man on Mars. I liked the science aspects of how he started agriculture on Mars.
I didn't like...
They kept this engaging though as we focused more and more on him it didn't seem realistic how he seemed to take everything easily. He was deprived food and starved and basically didn't seem too bothered by it.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
Not redo the ending, because it just didn't feel quite right.
This DVD made me feel...
It made me feel a little frustrated by how they wrapped things up. I expected more strife from the main character and in the movie version it's not seen.
The cast of this DVD...
Is well cast I'd say, none of them I really went "huh" you don't fit sort of thing.
I recommend this DVD because...
Because it speaks to the inner science person in me.
I don't recommend this DVD because...
Because of the ending, long drawn out parts, and unrealistic happy go lucky nature of the main character. He just never seemed to have an especially low point for me.
Further Comments...
This was a good movie but could have been greatly improved by having details the book did have that they removed. There's whole stretches of time missing because of it being a movie. His struggle isn't portrayed realistically enough for me.
