Summary of this CDs & Vinyl...
Wow. This album takes me back to the mid nineties, when girl power was just exploding onto the music scene. This album is one that celebrates strong women and rejects the mean men ho try to control us. Yeah!

Aside from its great feminist stance, the musicality of this album is fantastic. The tunes are all catchy. Alanis Morissette sings her heart out. There are times she's screaming her lyrics at this man who broke her heart. (I remember reading that this album was written after she had her heart broken. I'd say she got her revenge!)

This is one of those albums that when you listen to you have to a; sing along to, and b; try your hardest to mimic the singer's voice when you do it. You see, these songs are all so uniquely Alanis that you have to try to do them the justice of sounding like her. Of course, it's only in your own mind that you achieve this.

I love the sing along, angry, bitter, in your face songs on here (like "You Oughta Know" and "Right Through You.") Those songs are so uplifting, and they reaffirm your worth as a woman. But I also love the quieter songs. "Perfect" is the one I listened to on a loop when I first heard this album. It's about children who can never live up to their parents' expectations because those expectations are that they are perfect. I could relate to the lyrics. Check out these lines: "With everything I do for you, The least you can do is keep quiet." Wow. Chills rippling up and down my spine.

"Mary Jane," the other ballad on this album, is also a tale of depression and unhappiness. Alanis's vocals are beautiful in this song. She sounds so much more vulnerable and small.

Then, there are the happy songs. "Hand In My Pocket" and "Head Over Feet." These songs celebrate, in the former, Morissette's resourcefulness and optimism, and in the second a lover who loves her just for herself. A love that's new and happy.

So, as you can see, there is a huge variety on this album. I recommend you all have a listen.
This type of CDs & Vinyl is good for...
Women, I guess. Although, that's not to say that men won't like it. But it does have a feminist message, because it has a feminist singer and songwriter. It's rousing and it is positive, and it's a great message for young women.
I especially liked...
The hidden song—"Your House." At least, that's what I call it. We follow Morissette as she wanders through her lover's house. With only her voice (no other instruments at all), we are introduced to her lover's bedroom, bathroom, then desk. Where she finds a love letter from someone other than her. It's absolutely heartbreaking. It's like we are seeing everything at the same time as Alanis does. It's a great hidden bonus song.
When I finished n/a this CDs & Vinyl I wanted to...
Listen to it again, and again and again. I wanted to scream the lyrics at the top of my voice. I was also really excited to see what she came out with next.
This CDs & Vinyl made me feel...
Positive. It made me feel strong and independent. It made me feel like I could cope on my own because I was a strong woman. It was very life affirming for me.
The n/a of this CDs & Vinyl...
Alanis Morissette. I love this lady. She is a strong feminist, and she's never afraid to say what everyone else is too scared to say. She is always herself, and her music has its own style. She is great role model for young girls.
I recommend this CDs & Vinyl because...
It's a rite of passage for every teenage girl, as she moves towards adulthood. It gives them perspective and reminds them that they never let others (men, in particular) try to change them or hold them into someone else.

Plus, the tunes are banging, Alanis's voice is unique, and the lyrics are, in turn, clever, witty, and sad.
