Summary of this Book...
What would you be willing to pay for that one item you really want? Well pop into the new shop in Castle Rock that has just been opened by Leland Gaunt, and you'll find out.

Needful Things is a shop that sells anything and everything. There are the everyday items that cost a few dollars, and then there are special items. Items that are so desired that people are willing to do anything to own it. These are the "Needful Things".

If you had crippling arthritis, what would you be willing to pay for a necklace that took away your pain? If you were town selectman and had robbed the town's finances and were about to be found out, what would you be willing to pay for a horse racing game that is guaranteed to pick the winner of every single horse race anywhere in the world?

Every Needful Thing comes with two price tags - an unbelievably low price tag, and playing a simple prank on someone.

Not everything is as it first appears. Dreams quickly turn to ashes, as people realise their Needful Things are not all that they first appear to be. But by then, it is far too late for sleepy Castle Rock.

The various pranks have revived old animosities and sparked new hatreds. The once sleepy town is on the verge of imploding, and only the sheriff can save his town.
This type of Book is good for...
Anyone who loves Stephen King or horror in general
I especially liked...
The depth of the character explorations, which I think is one of Stephen King's best talents as a storyteller. This is something that was sorely missing in the film.
I didn't like...
The way young Brian Rusk ultimately deals with his role in the town's descent into chaos and anarchy.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
create a mental note to never watch the film ever again.
The author of this Book...
Stephen King was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine. He graduated from the University of Maine and later worked as a teacher while establishing himself as a writer. Having also published work under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, King's first horror novel, Carrie, was a huge success. Over the years, King has become known for titles that are both commercially successful and sometimes critically acclaimed. His books have sold more than 350 million copies worldwide and been adapted into numerous successful films.
I recommend this Book because...
Despite feeling about ten chapters too long, the book does a fantastic job of exploring a sleepy town and the secret lives that take place in it.
