Summary of this Book...

This is the story of a woman who is suffering from post-partum depression; however, more than her illness, she suffers from the wrong cure overseen by her husband who is a doctor. The husband and the husband’s sister manage the needs of the household. The main character is like a prisoner in a rented place, which sounds like a nice home, other than the upstairs room she’s put in for a rest cure. The room has a yellow wallpaper, which the woman disliked intensely, at first. Then, the more she looks at it, the more she sees things on it, slowly falling into madness.

The story is told from the first-person-point-of-view by the main character as she secretly wrote in her journal, since that, too, was something she wasn’t allowed to do. Her voice is that of an unreliable narrator, however sincere and touching.

Aside from feeling bad for the woman, I was really ticked off at the husband. This means the story is a success since it evoked this kind of a reaction in a reader. Also, the author’s insight into the mind of a person whose mental well-being deteriorates due to the circumstances is something to applaud.
I didn't like...
the way this woman was treated.

Further Comments...
This story is very well written. The author's insight into her subject is spectacular. On the other hand, reading about a woman who is treated like an invalid, especially through sugar-coated supposedly well-meaning actions infuriated me. I, therefore, neither recommend nor not recommend this story. Read at your own risk.

Another thing, I bought this, thinking it is a full book. It is a long story, which barely can make it to be a novella.
