Summary of this Book...
From Amazon:
Best friends Annie and Sarah need cash—fast. Sarah, a beautiful, successful lawyer, wants nothing more than to have a baby. But balancing IVF treatments with a grueling eighty-hour workweek is no walk in the park. Meanwhile, Annie, a Harvard-grad chemist recently transplanted to Southern California, is cutting coupons to afford her young autistic son’s expensive therapy.
Desperate, the two friends come up with a brilliant plan: they’ll combine Sarah’s looks and Annie’s brains to sell a “luxury” antiaging face cream to the wealthy, fading beauties in Annie’s La Jolla book club. The scheme seems innocent enough, until Annie decides to add a special—and oh-so-illegal—ingredient that could bring their whole operation crashing to the ground.
This type of Book is good for...
- Fans of Chick Lit
- Fans of Satire
I especially liked...
- Relatable protagonists
- Good blend of humor and seriousness
- Real problems that I could identify with
- Having a chemist for a main character required a little research, which the author obviously did
- Witty dialog
- The pacing was perfect
I didn't like...
- Switching character viewpoints became a bit confusing in the middle of the book. After several chapters, it goes back to the two main characters.
This Book made me feel...
I laughed out loud several times while reading this book. It sounds like the kind of caper my Soul Sister and I would cook up ourselves.
The n/a of this Book...
This is Kathy Cooperman's debut novel.
I recommend this Book because...
What would you do?
This novel covers serious, real world problems in a light-hearted and comedic fashion featuring friendship and love. It's just an overall good book.
Further Comments...
I rated this 18+ because although there was no sex, there were several F-bombs.
