Summary of this Book...
This book was featured on my library's page for a big group-reading event and the leader of WDC's "Book Brothel" was reading it and invited members to read along. And I saw that it won all these awards:
"Kirkus Best Fiction Book of 2020
PopSugar Crazy Popular Books of 2020
Amazon Best Romance of the Month
Top Ten Best Romances of 2019—Entertainment Weekly
Kobo Best Romance of the Year
Bustle 17 Best New Books Of December 2019
SheReads’ Most Anticipated Books of 2020
HelloGiggles 8 Best New Books To Read In December"
... so I thought I'd give it a try. Just seeing it on my library's page piqued my interest but wasn't enough to get me to read it until I noticed the awards and the Book Brothel invitation.

It's a contemporary romance between a famous hand-letterer named Meg and a math genius named Reid. The romance and the humor were the best parts of the book for me.

The hand lettering part could have been more interesting. I actually enjoy hand lettering and expected to enjoy that component of the book more than I did. There are side stories about Meg's relationship with her BFF, her former boss, her kind of coworker (Lachelle), and a very famous client.

Reid has a big secret (that I had guessed was coming) as to why he hadn't left a job he clearly didn't enjoy, despite having the resources to do.

Overall, it's a fun story. I think it could have been told in a much more concise way, yet I did like how she tied different elements in the beginning to things throughout the book and at the end.
This type of Book is good for...
People who like contemporary romance, people who like codes, mild mysteries, fonts, and mild drama.
I especially liked...
I loved Reid and liked Meg. I loved how Reid's brain worked and how he found ways to make Meg's ideas more fun and Meg's openness to trying his ideas. I loved Lark's growth, Lachelle's whole character, and the humor throughout. I liked the author's unique observations.
I didn't like...
The boring parts. The book probably could have been cut by a third and have been better. That I had trouble relating to Meg sometimes.

This wasn't a book that compelled me to keep reading. It was easy to put down and go to bed on time most nights.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read something more action packed and interesting.
This Book made me feel...
Interested in Reid's brain, happy for Meg at the end and during the happy parts, happy for Lark, proud of Lachelle, and, as I already mentioned, bored at times. Oddly though, I think I'd like the author a lot. I saw her answers to readers' questions on Overdrive and liked her sense of humor and unique observations.
The author of this Book...
From Amazon (as was the list of awards in the first section): "Kate Clayborn is the critically acclaimed author of six novels. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Oprah Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Bookpage, and more. By day she works in education, and by night (and sometimes, by very early morning) she writes contemporary romances about smart, strong, modern heroines who face the world alongside true friends and complicated families. She resides in Virginia with her husband and their dog."
I recommend this Book because...
The romance is a nice story.
Further Comments...
I borrowed a copy of this book from my local library.
