Summary of this Book...
I actually downloaded this as an ebook by mistake. I got the author, K.L. Slater, confused with C.L. Taylor, and I thought I was buying a book from the latter. However, on this occasion, it was a very pleasant mistake to make.

This is a novel that had my heart in my mouth for pretty much the whole book. From the beginning, Darcy’s new boyfriend has a certain menace about him. He makes my skin crawl, and I was waiting for the moment he revealed his true colours.

My emotions were swinging back and forth in this novel. I wanted to give George the benefit of the doubt; there were parts of him that seemed like he might be trustworthy after all. But, then, he seemed so controlling, so odd in his behaviour.

When Darcy moves in with George, she receives a bunch of flowers from a woman called Opal: George’s ex who has a serious grudge to bear. Opal warns Darcy she and her two young boys are not safe with George. But is she telling the truth? Is George really such a monster? Or is Opal the one who is unhinged, as George claims to be the case?

The end had me tearing through the pages. I had to know who I could trust and who was evil. The author wrote it so that we were never really sure until the climax. Which was fab.

The ending is perfect. I won’t say what happens as I don’t want to give it away. But it worked really well.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a fantastic example of a psychological thriller. I look forward to reading more K.L. Slater in the future.
This type of Book is good for...
People who love seat-of-your-pants psychological thrillers. It's a great, quick read that will hook you and not let go until you have finished reading.
I especially liked...
The suspense. The way the author writes is perfect for this kind of novel. She throws doubts in our minds over who we can trust, and I absolutely love that.
I didn't like...
The story was a little predictable. Although, there were twists and turns that made it stand out.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read more of this author.
