Summary of this DVD...
This is a screwball comedy from the mid 1930s. I love screwball comedies, but had never seen this one. It has grown on me to be one of my favorite movies of all time.

It is the story of a ditzy socialite (Carole Lombard) who is on a scavenger hunt for a party during the Depression. Competing with her sister, she goes on a search. She arrives at the city dump to find, "The Forgotten Man", a homeless fellow named "Godfrey". As it turns out, she rescues Godfrey and employs him as her butler and mayhem ensues.

Godfrey is much more than he appears to be. He may be the richest, most educated forgotten man in history.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who enjoys a good nonsensical Screwball comedy with great performances.
I especially liked...
William Powell (The THin Man). He totally cracks me up with his deadpan, lightning fast delivery of a wise crack. I also like Carole Lombard. She is no Jean Harlow, but she is pretty funny as a scatter brained, but good hearted heiress, Irene Bullock.

Lombard and Powell have undeniable chemistry. They were married and divorced in real life before William Powell asked that Lombard play this part.

To me, all the characters in this crazy family are unforgettable. Powell and Lombard shine.

As I wrote here, this has over time become one of my favorite films ever.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
watch another screwball comedy with William Powell.
This DVD made me feel...
like the 1930s aren't so different from now. I see a lot of homeless people milling around who remind me of Godfrey. What if they are really just lost people.
The cast of this DVD...
knows how to deliver fast and sarcastic dialogue. This as very amusing.

The scene at the beginning with the mother seeing pixies and Godfrey helping her with them is particularly hilarious.
I recommend this DVD because...
I love a good, nonsensical screwball comedy with an effective message that resonates through the decades.
