The book consists of 14 stories in all.
Each story is a reflection of a chunk of reality seen in, and around the central character, Olive Kitteridge.
Starting with Henry Kitteridge's life as a pharmacist and a householder, the author lets us glimpses into the lives of Olive's neighbors, son and daughters-in-law, and her own life as well spanning the rest of the stories.

All adults, men and women.
