Summary of this Book...
The third book in the Harry Potter series, contains the text with full-colour illustrations.

I'm not going to be reviewing it for the writing here, I'm reviewing this particular edition, the illustrated one.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
(Look through the pics)
Search it again and again, which I did, in case I'd missed the key illustrations I wanted!
This Book made me feel...
Very ambivalent.
I am a Harry Potter fanatic. I conduct quizzes and events based on Harry Potter. This is my favourite story of the series. It's the illustrated edition I had most looked forward to receiving.
The thing is, like any other HP fanatic, I had a certain expectation of what I would see in the illustrated edition.
I wanted to see a proper illustration of Sirius.
I wanted to see how the time-travel bit was interpreted.
These didn't feature in the illustrations.
Instead, I saw several illustrations of Crookshanks chasing Scabbers, several illustrations of Dementors, a portrait of Snape and one of Peter Pettigrew (why?!).
I recommend this Book because...
Good illustrations of Knight bus, pet store, Hippogriffs, scene in the snow, Dementor on train.
Nice sepia-ish portrait of Lupin.
Some smaller illustrations are good, too. Sir Cadogan; Harry / Cho; Pigwidgeon.
I don't recommend this Book because...
Bad illustration of Aunt Marge, and many 'expected' 'want to see' illustrations missing.
(I know, I know, this is very personal, but hey, HP fanatic here, there are some things I WANTED to see in this book!)
Further Comments...
I was pleasantly surprised by the illustrated edition 'Chamber of Secrets', so I actually should be reviewing that one!

Have come to the conclusion that the illustrated editions are like boyfriends. You don't get what you expect and you learn to love what you get.

People, please read this review as a spontaneous response from a fan who feels like a little kid who got the wrong flavour of ice-cream.
